About John C. Weiks, Ed.D.
Dr. Weiks is a compassionate therapist who has worked in a variety of specialty areas over the course of his career. He currently provides individual and group psychotherapy to adults; marital counseling; and supervisory services for other mental health professionals through his private practice, Integrative Psychotherapy, which he started in 1989. His work covers a broad spectrum of patient needs, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, chronic pain, and domestic/sexual violence.
Dr. Weiks has extensive experience with adult male and female sex offenders and male and female victims of childhood sexual abuse, both in private practice and as a consultant to local organizations. He has provided consultation to the YWCA Child Sexual Abuse Treatment Center, as well as training presentations and supervisory services. He is currently a consultant to the Adolescent Sex Offender Treatment Program of the Kent County Juvenile Court, a program which he developed and supervised during its initial two-year pilot in 1986 and has continued to consult with ever since.
As a licensed Radix practitioner, Dr. Weiks also acknowledges the importance of an integrated approach to mind and body for successful treatment. He is a Radix trainer, and offers workshops as well as individual and group body psychotherapy sessions. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Michigan Group Psychotherapy Society and is a training faculty member of The Radix Institute.
